CJG Partners Welcomes Jim Wascher as Partner and Expands to Elgin

November 2, 2026

We are pleased to share several exciting developments at our firm.

First, CJG Partners LLP is transitioning to CJG Partners PLLC. Other than this slight change in name, there will be no impact on our clients, services, or day-to-day operations.

Second, Gregory Nelson is stepping down as a partner of CJG Partners. Fortunately, Greg is not going anywhere and his involvement with clients will not change. He will remain an integral member of our team and continue providing the exceptional service our clients have come to expect throughout his more than 30-year career with CJG Partners. During the firm’s less busy periods, Greg plans to spend more time traveling and enjoying his hobbies. We are incredibly grateful for Greg’s leadership during his 12 years as a partner and look forward to his continued contributions for years to come.

Finally, CJG Partners is thrilled to welcome James Wascher as a partner. Jim brings more than 15 years of experience helping small and mid-sized businesses and their owners navigate their tax, accounting, and advisory needs. Along with joining CJG Partners, Jim is bringing the newly formed practice of CJG Accounting Partners LLC, formerly known as Joseph A. Matz & Associates, Ltd., located in Elgin. We are equally excited to welcome the team members and clients of CJG Accounting Partners LLC to the CJG family.

While we will now operate from two office locations, CJG Partners and CJG Accounting Partners will function as one firm under the CJG Partners PLLC name. This combination strengthens our ability to serve clients by expanding the depth of our experience, expertise, and resources while continuing to provide the personalized attention and responsive service that have always been the foundation of our client relationships.

We are especially excited about this partnership because Jim and the CJG team share the same client-first values and commitment to excellence. In fact, Jim and CJG Partner Ken Orth have been close friends since their college days, making this a natural fit both professionally and personally.

By bringing our firms together, we can invest in additional technology, broaden our collective knowledge, and create even greater opportunities for our clients and team members. These enhanced resources will allow us to continue delivering the customized, high-quality service our clients expect while positioning the firm for long-term growth and success.
